Starbucks Hops On the Avocado Toast Hype


Avocados have the Oprah effect; whatever they touch instantly turns to gold. Starbucks has finally taken heed of the ubiquitous avocado toast trend and now serves Organic Avocado Spread to be added atop any breakfast food items.

Served in a plastic pod so you can gingerly spread avocado on-the-go, it is made from fresh, organic Haas avocados, sea salt, onion, garlic, jalapeño, and lime juice. Despite the pre-packaging, this sounds an awful lot like glorified guacamole, and we’re never bothered by that.

The pods start at $1, which provides a great alternative to the $11 and up brunch versions our wallets have, unfortunately, become accustomed to.

The Internet hasn’t been as excited for the product, though, with many customers claiming that the spread is a little too, um, green.

If you’re a traditionalist when it comes to the color of your breakfast, Starbucks has introduced many more springtime options to enjoy: adorably parrot-shaped cake pops, gluten-free Canadian bacon breakfast sandwiches, vegan bagels with whole-grain oats and sunflower seeds, new yogurt flavors,  and other packaged treats.
