Fashion Photography Runs On Cold Brew Just Like You
Dave X Prutting, Co-Founder of BFA Photography, knows as well as any of our readers that sometimes the best way to pregame a party is with a red eye rather than a Red Bull Vodka. Now in its seventh year, BFA maintains its untouchable reign as the preeminent photography agency documenting New York City’s (and more recently, LA’s) social life and fashion scenes.
BFA’s clients include no-names like Vogue, Chanel, Calvin Klein, and Heineken, to name a few. In addition to event photography, they also have a full-service photography and videography studio in Manhattan’s Flatiron District, and will even aerially capture your remote destination wedding via drone! (Maybe just warn your guests to avoid any false alarms.)
Given BFA’s breadth of work and A list portfolio of clients, it’s no wonder Ivan Shaw, Vogue’s Director of Photography, described the agency as the “gold standard in event photography.” Coffee ‘N Clothes had the pleasure of catching up with Dave over cold brew, discussing fashion, his coffee of choice, and other fun topics.
“The thing I look forward to the most is interactions with people that inspire me – sometimes they’re celebrities, sometimes they’re just a young kid with a lot of energy,” Dave told Coffee ‘N Clothes. “It’s always nice to be around people who are making things that will hopefully change and direct the course of our culture.”
Dave revealed that he’s like most of our readership in that he can’t function without at least one strong cup of coffee in the morning and an afternoon pick-me-up. He also discussed the excitement and momentum currently seen in the fashion industry with everything becoming “all about ready to buy and ready to purchase” trends.
Dave concluded the interview with his “Tips for any photographer, iPhone or real,” which strongly emphasized the use of light, composition, and inspiration from the masters. Catch the full details, as well as the rest of the interview, over on the the Coffee ‘N Clothes Instagram.
