Brews & Booze: Intermezzo Coffee Is Your Summer Hot SpotSarah Maingot
Intermezzo Coffee isn’t your typical java joint. Located in the up-and-coming EDGE district of St. Petersburg, Florida, Intermezzo is open from 8am-5pm as a full-service coffee shop and from 5pm till close as a craft cocktail bar. Jarret Sabatini, the owner and barista of the establishment, describes his shop as “mid-century modern,” and we are all about the clean, minimalist aesthetic. The mix of white walls and dark wood furniture create a calming atmosphere, perfect to get some work done during the day or to unwind with a craft cocktail at night.
“Merging bar culture and coffee culture together is something that has not come to St. Petersburg or Tampa yet,” Sabantini says. Therefore, it’s no surprise Intermezzo is doing things a little differently compared to the regular coffee shops around as a one-stop shop, with cold brew and cold beer on tap.
In addition to this unique coffee/cocktail bar concept, they also feature a “pop-up” oyster bar four nights a week by New York’s Empire Oyster – a high profile oyster producer and wholesaler. St. Pete locals have been embracing this new addition to their city, and are loving the classic combination of craft cocktails with craft oysters.
Be sure to include Intermezzo on your list of places to stop by after a long day at the beach.
